DistroDesigner Utility

Customer connection designs, produced on your own network.

For the utility’s own engineers, inside the utility’s own network. Designs are drawn automatically to your standards, then adjusted and sealed by your engineers.

The problem

Every customer connection is designed by hand.

Each connection is laid out from experience, with the standards referenced manually. The design that goes through is the one that designer arrived at.

Every step is manual. Each request takes a designer’s time from first look to issued design, and the queue grows with every application that lands.

What DistroDesigner Utility does

Every utility asks how to connect the next building to the grid. DistroDesigner Utility answers inside your own network, for your own engineers:

  • Imports your existing infrastructure from your GIS
  • Produces the customer connection design automatically, to your standards
  • Lets your engineer edit anything they see fit, re-checking every edit against the rules and raising any concerns
  • Lays out the design scope, cost, and impacts for you to execute against

Fewer touchpoints per connection, faster answers to customers, and a queue that moves.

How it works

From a customer connection request to a design your engineer seals.

The same ten engines behind DistroDesigner Developer, running on your network. Your engineer edits and re-checks until the design is clean.

  1. Import

Your existing network is imported from your own GIS.

  2. Design

A customer connection design is produced automatically, to your own standards.

  3. Adjust

Your engineer edits anything they see fit.

  4. Re-verify

Every edit is checked back against the rules, with concerns raised.

  5. Complete

A work-order package and a seal-ready drawing, sealed by your engineer.

The roadmap

Customer connections first, then the rest of distribution planning.

Phase 1

Customer connection design

Customer connection design on the utility’s own GIS, as described above.

Phase 2 · In development

Load flow analysis

Load flow analysis, covering the basic CYME functions.

Phase 3 · Planned

Intra-feeder & inter-feeder designs

Being able to analyze a feeder network and how it can interact with the feeders around it enables a utility to perform radial feed analysis, phasing balancing analysis, and more. This enables automated utility capital project planning and design.

Phase 4 · Planned

Active grid monitoring

Full active grid monitoring, with automated capital project recommendations on weak points.
